Sunday Sermon at Zion Mennonite Church

As a follow up to the weekend conference "The Scandal of the Non-violent Atonement featuring Dr. J. Deny Weaver at Albany Mennonite Church in September 2005, we are inviting you to attend another two-day event beginning Friday evening, January 18 and ending Saturday afternoon at 4:00 PM, lead by Dr. Mary Schertz, Professor of New Testament at Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminaries in Elkhart, Indiana. Dr. Schertz will be leading us in huermanutical exercises using as a text the account of Jesus in Luke 22: 35-39 instructing them to sell their cloaks and buy swords.

How to interpret the Bible as the theme of this conference was chosen in response to the "most suggested" topic for followup to Dr. Weaver's Atonement lectures. Dr. Schertz is highly recommended by her peers and students as a gifted lecturer and hermeneutical expert. Flyers for registration with more details will follow soon and also be mailed to Mennonite Churches or others that would request them. Contact Larry Eby at brenebyaol.com.
